Hooligan’s Lineage
Fast enough for sprint, slow enough for distance, and one of our best dogs EVER. Hooligan is a perfect moving dog, because he is so athletic it’s just extremely easy for him to be a sled dog. He is one of our strongest race finishers and has been an invaluable dog on our team for many seasons. He is excellent off leash and one of our best hiking buddies because he stays so close. His Gatt/Kleedehn lines have been some of the most important foundation dogs to blend in with ours, contributing to many of of our best athletes. Hooligan began serious training with our main team at just 9 months old in the fall of 2014 and kept accelerating until he was racing in junior sprint races with Isabel that same winter. In his first season of serious racing as a younger 2 year old Hooligan finished his first major race, the very challenging Bogus Creek 150 with John George in 2nd place. There was no trail, just glare ice, made more difficult with 45 mph winds. The following week Hooligan finished in Will’s winning Two Rivers 200 team. He is a tireless dog who has never been dropped from a race or injured. He is the ideal size race dog with a perfect gait. Hooligan has very strong natural endurance and a solid work ethic. Hooligan very rarely breaks into a lope because he can trot 18mph with a tight tug line, maybe faster, but that is plenty fast enough. He has a huge heart and loves working as much as he loves his mushers!
